Brandy Wood lives life as the lens of a kaleidoscope, ever-changing, exciting, full of beauty and wonder. Brandy notices and holds on to views, moments, thoughts and feelings. Throughout her incredible experiences, she gathers these pieces, like the bits of colored glass, and uses them to create her works of art.Brandy, based in Las Vegas, Nevada, started collecting her “bits of glass” early on. After graduating from high school, she joined Up With People, traveling across the U.S. and Europe, living with over 70 host families, learning about people and carrying a message of world peace. She then traveled extensively internationally on her own, working in Japan, Italy and The Netherlands just to name a few, observing and absorbing the beauty as well as the reality of the world in greater detail.Movement and experience throughout the world have given Brandy many lenses for her work. She creates the beauty and wonder of the landscapes she has seen. Her insatiable curiosity leads her to study and learn more about the people themselves, their lives and varying beliefs, translating her knowledge into vibrant visual representations.Brandy has not always had a smooth path to follow in her life. As she travels her path, she holds the feelings and emotions, creating visual metaphors, releasing the intensity through the images she creates. Her paintings speak clearly to us all as we come to various times of our own lives.Brandy’s kaleidoscope is full of who she is, who she chooses to be, her view of both her intimate and ever expanding world. She is not an impartial observer, rather a young woman living her life as intensely as the colors she chooses and as boldly as the lines she paints.
